Google Data Use

Last updated October 26, 2026

How Actually uses the access you give it to Gmail.

What we ask for

Read-only access to Gmail (gmail.readonly). Actually can't send, delete or change your email.

Why

To find your past and new orders, deliveries, returns, refunds and points, and turn them into your order list and closet.

How

We check each email's sender, subject and preview to decide if it's about shopping. Only those are read in full, and only to pull out order details. Sensitive categories are skipped (see our Privacy Policy).

Email text is processed by our AI provider to pull out order details, then discarded. We store the order details, not your emails.

What we keep

Order details (store, order number, dates, total, delivery and return status), the pieces in each order, and points or store credit, plus each email's subject line, sender's web address, date and a reference to open it in Gmail. Kept until you disconnect Gmail or delete your data or account.

Our access to your Gmail is stored encrypted, only on our servers.

Limited Use

Actually's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

We do not use Gmail data for advertising, do not sell it, and do not let people read it except with your permission, for security, to comply with the law, or as part of our internal operations under strict controls.

Offers, alerts and sponsored products come from brands you choose to follow, not from what's in your email. When you add a brand's offer, your order emails are used only to confirm you ordered from that brand, so you get the credit.

We do not use Gmail data, or anything derived from it, to develop, improve or train general AI or machine learning models, and our AI provider does not train on it.

Turning it off

Disconnect Gmail in Settings anytime. We stop reading, cancel our access at Google, and delete the orders, pieces and points we found in your Gmail. Orders from your shopping email, scanned receipts and points you typed stay until you use Delete my orders and closet.

You can also remove Actually's access at myaccount.google.com/permissions. Then what we already saved stays until you delete it in Settings (Delete my orders and closet, or Delete my account). Deleting your account also cancels our access to Gmail.
